As noted here, work item templates are standardized task frameworks that ensure consistency across recurring work. They’re especially powerful when paired with preventive maintenance (PM) schedules) - because templates are what bring structure to the work generated by your schedules.
Here's how it works:
Let’s say you want to replace your AC unit’s filter every month. You would:
- Click "New" to create a PM schedule
- Apply the "Replace filter on AC" template - which might include a clear description, checklist items, and helpful attachments (like manuals, photos, or videos)
-
Set the rest of the schedule details, such as:
-
Schedule (e.g., every 30 days)
-
Assignee(s)
-
Priority
-
And any other relevant info
-
Once the schedule is live, every PM work order it generates will follow that same standardized format - helping your team complete the work consistently and efficiently, every time.
