As noted here, work item templates are standardized task frameworks that users create to ensure consistency across work items, making it easy to generate uniform tasks each time. They go hand in hand with PM schedules. How?
Because you apply templates to your PM schedules.
Say, for example, you want to replace your AC unit's filter every month. You'll
- Click "New" to kick off the PM schedule process
- Apply the "Replace filter on AC" template, which may incorporate a detailed description, set of checklist items to complete, and any attachments (manuals, pictures, videos).
-
Define the rest of the schedule
- Cadence
- Assignee(s)
- Priority
- etc.
From there, all PM work orders generated from the schedule will adhere to the standardized framework.
