Any time a driver enters an odometer reading during a trip or fuel log, that reading is written back to the vehicle record automatically — no manual update required. This is called odometer writeback, and it's what keeps your vehicle mileage current without anyone having to maintain it by hand.
Odometer writeback is triggered from two places in the driver flow:
- Inspections — If the inspection template includes an odometer field, the reading captured at inspection time updates the vehicle's mileage on submission.
- Fuel logs — If a driver enters an odometer reading when logging a fuel purchase, that reading updates the vehicle's mileage as well.
Admins can see current mileage on the Vehicles page at any time.
Tip: Encourage your drivers to enter an odometer reading every time they log fuel or complete an inspection. The more consistently it's captured, the more useful your mileage data becomes.
